Cooperating School Districts Virtual Learning Center proudly offers Discovery Education streaming through our unique partnership with Discovery Education. Using Discovery Education streaming students are engaged in their learning experience by receiving safe, high-quality, standards-based digital video that can enhance both learning and teaching. CSD's Discovery Education streaming offers teachers with varying levels of integration skills the opportunity to learn to use Internet resources to acquire and enhance their teaching practice. With enhanced technology and teaching skills, teachers will be able to integrate this technology into the curriculum and use teaching strategies to promote higher-order thinking skills for students.
Customized Management for Administrative Needs
Each Discovery Education streaming video has teacher resources and can be customized to meet individual needs. Schools that are Professional Learning Communities (PLC) will be enriched by the opportunity Discovery Education streaming's content management system provides through customize reports. This management system gives the administrator the option to create reports that gauge the effectiveness of the Discovery Education streaming program. The system allows for subscription administrators to generate statistics on Discovery Education streaming usage that support PLC goals. The report may be generated by specific date, groups or users to support the effectiveness of a S.M.A.R.T. Goal. A subscription administrator can also choose who is viewing a specific program or clip, the time viewed and IP address of the user. In addition, an administrator can see what videos have been viewed for the entire account or by a specific user. Network administrators can monitor their network usage by viewing whether the program or clips are streamed or downloaded.

Discovery Education, the leader in digital video and multimedia-based learning, recently announced the results of a second independent evaluation of the award-winning Discovery Education streaming digital video-on-demand application. The first evaluation was conducted in rural Virginia in 2002 and showed improvements in 3rd and 8th grade science and social studies scores. This new study, conducted in the Los Angeles Unified School District between January and March, 2004, shows substantial academic improvement in mathematics in both 6th and 8th grade. Professional Learning Communities
The VLC is excited to be able to provide technology professional development for Discovery Education streaming that supports the PLC model by using goals that focus on student achievement. This training helps teachers transform their classrooms into learning communities that use technology as a tool to increase student achievement.
