INTRODUCTION
In honor of Women’s History Month, the United
States Post Office is going to honor a woman with her image on a postage
stamp. Who should they choose? What qualifications and characteristics
should be considered? In this WebQuest, you are going to help make
those decisions!!
THE TASK
Your group’s task will be to determine which
of four possible famous women will be honored with their picture on a postage
stamp. You will learn about each of their careers, contributions
to society, and personal characteristics. After compiling individual
research about your candidate you will debate your candidate’s qualifications
for this honor. Your group will then choose one candidate to support
and you will each write a letter to the Postmaster explaining your choice,
giving reasons and examples to support your decision.
THE PROCESS
1. You will be assigned to a group of four by your teacher. In your group, you will decide who will research each person.
2. Individually, you will examine the sites
related to the person you chose. Use the graphic
organizer your teacher will give you to record the information you
find.

3. When everyone has completed his or her research, you will get together to determine who will be the next face on the postage stamp. Each person should share the information they found that will give evidence that the person deserves this honor.
4. Based on the information shared by the
group members, the group will decide which of the women to choose.
5. Next, you will make your case to the Postmaster. Each individual will write a letter persuading him to put your choice on the stamp. You must share evidence that clearly shows why you have chosen her. Include information related to her career, contributions to society, personal characteristics, and other relevant information.
6. Finally, your group will outline your
reasons for choosing this woman on a poster. You will choose one
person to share the information in front of the class.
EVALUATION

2. Your letter will be scored with the scoring

Through your research you were able to draw conclusions to make those decisions.
In a class discussion, your group will defend the person you chose and
