New Links to New Learning

Have videoconferencing equipment, but don't feel you are utilizing it to its maximum potential? New Links offers free in-service training sessions to its members and low-cost sessions to non-members.

Simply call us at 314-692-1272 or 314-692-1258 to schedule a training date and time. This can be done either on-site or over the videoconferencing equipment. We recommend at least 2 hours for the training, but a half day is better.

Participants are introduced to videoconferencing and its possibilities for curriculum enrichment and increased student outcomes. They are guided through the design of a virtual field trip and given hands-on practice using the equipment--connecting, moving the camera, accessing peripherals, using presets, muting the microphone, etc. And finally, they are introduced to content providers and ways to go about finding them. Here is a typical agenda for a two-hour training session:

Agenda

8:00-8:15 Icebreaker Activities

8:15-8:45 Definition and Explanation of Videoconferencing Equipment and Environment

8:45-9:00 Videotape of New Links to New Learning

9:00-9:30 Videoconferencing Protocol

9:30-9:40 BREAK

9:40-10:15 Finding Content Providers/Encouraging Interaction and Engaging Students

10:15-10:30 Videoconference Evaluations

10:30-11:00 Hands-On Practice and Wrap-Up

To go along with the training, we have created a booklet that is approximately 50 pages long. If you wish to download it or view it, click below. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view it. It is a rather large file, so it may take a while to load.
