Flossie and the Fox - Lesson on Personification
Imbedded in a series of four 5th grade science lessons about vertebrates, lesson three has students read Flossie and the Fox and discuss the meaning of personification in literature.  Students are then asked to write their own stories featuring this literary device.  Interesting use of science across disciplines (here language arts).

Flossie and the Fox - Writing a News Article
