Today's students need the skills to prepare them not only for the workplace but skills as a 21st Century Citizen.

Are we, as educators, providing them the experiences and challenges to compete and live in the new millennium?

METC 2008 brings together a diverse collection of speakers to share their knowledge, experience, strategies and expertise using established and emerging technologies in the classroom. As educators we must prepare our students for new jobs that have not been created by giving them the skills to question, gather, evaluate and finally produce new solutions or products. Technology is a tool that excites and engages students to learn.

METC 2008 goals:

  • Offers a program that shares effective instructional technology programs and management strategies
  • Brings together all stakeholders in a school district to explore new and innovative uses of technology and to learn from each other.
  • Designs a program that fits into educators’ individual learning plans and aligns with high quality professional development.
  • Exposes educators to the latest in quality products and services.
Comments from METC 2007

What information will you share with your colleagues?

"Virtually every session that I went to contained two or three things that I plan to share with my colleagues."

"...different ways to incorporate technology on an on-going basis, without adding to their busy schedule."

"Google Earth as a great learning tool for the classroom "

"videoconferencing and online assessment"

"Lesson plans, info on blogging, RSS feds, aggregators, SMART Boards, integrating technology into everyday classrooms, handheld info and technologyis use in differentiation."

"Math links, Podcasting information, Reading links. I would recommend more of our faculty take advantage of the wealth of information shared at this conference."

What did you find most beneficial?

"The opportunity to discuss educational and technological issues with other professionsals from within my district AND outside my district."

"The variety was wonderful. I could choose to focus on many different topics if I wanted. Mostly, though, the conference is helpful in feeling less daunted by the enormity of technology. Thank you!"

"The 'big ideas' of how education is changing and our need to current - philosophical issues of how to not continue to cover content, but make sure higher order thinking skills are being used."

"The variety of presentations I could attend. You had everything from blogs, podcasting, movie making, games and even how you can use technology in the special services classroom."
