Festus Middle School
AR Reading Program

Students participating in the Festus Middle School reading program use two automated resources. The Accelerated Reader program is used to test comprehension upon completion of a book and the STAR program is used to assess reading levels. Student comprehension and reading goals are established on an individual basis.

Students select a book based on a reading level that is determined by past success on AR comprehension tests and the results of the STAR program. The book is read by the student. A computerized test is given in the library. Comprehension information and the completion of goal percentage are indicated for the student in the test results. Student achievement is then evaluated in the library or the classroom.
